“The best thing for a conductor is to meet so many people. But the opposite is also true, the hardest thing is to say goodby to so many people. In my opinion, for Elgar, this track represents the same thing. It represents human life.” Kazuki Yamada — a Japanese director who grew up under the wing of Seiji Ozawa — presents his debut at the Teatro alla Scala with Enigma Variations by Elgar, the masterpiece of the English composer that has remained in his heart since he became Music Director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Equally exciting will be Tchaikovsky's Concerto in D Major in the hands of Nikolaj Znaider. Filarmonica's audience still remembers his appearance at the Concert in Piazza Duomo in 2017.
