“Founded in 1982 by Claudio Abbado and the musicians to enhance the symphonic repertoire in the context of the opera tradition of the Teatro alla Scala, for over 40 years it has collaborated with major conductors and is regularly hosted in the most important concert institutions, taking Milan everywhere in the world. The deep bond between Filarmonica della Scala and the Milanese is strengthened every year with Open Filarmonica initiatives: the free Concerto per Milano in Piazza Duomo, the Open Rehearsals, Sound, Music! for primary school and Scholarships foryoung musicians. A concrete commitment, in addition to achieving artistic excellence, also in favor of inclusion, the reduction of economic, social and cultural barriers to promote access and participation in the many musical events promoted every year.”
With these words, on Saturday, December 7, the Filarmonica della Scala received the Ambrogino d'oro, the certificate of civic merit that the City of Milan confers on city excellence. President Maurizio Beretta received the award.
We are happy to share this important goal with public and cultural institutions — with the Main Partner UniCredit and with the UniCredit Foundation, Esselunga and Allianz — with third sector associations, with guest artists, the public and with those who have accompanied us along the way over the years.
