BIOGRAPHY

Daniele Gatti is the new principal conductor of the Staatskapelle in Dresden. He was Chief Director of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Music Director of the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome. He previously held prestigious roles at other musical realities such as the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre national de France, the Royal Opera House in London, the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, the Opernhaus in Zurich and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam.

The Berliner Philharmoniker, the Wiener Philharmoniker, the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks and the La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra are just a few of the renowned symphonic institutions with which he regularly collaborates.

In August, he inaugurated the 2024-25 Staatskapelle season, with which he then toured Italy as well. At the end of September, he opened the Wiener Philharmoniker season at the Musikverein in Vienna, conducting the Austrian team on tour in the main European cities. In summer 2025, the Bayreuth Festival will open with a new production by Meistersinger von Nürnberg.

Three times he has been awarded the “Franco Abbiati” award by Italian music critics for best director of the year. In 2016, he received the award of Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur of the French Republic. Among the awards obtained, there was also that of Grand Officer of Merit of the Italian Republic.
