Acclaimed all over the world for his musicality and the profound sound of his cello Matteo Gofferller L'Ambassadeur In 1701, Gautier Capuçon performs alongside many of the most important conductors and musicians, and is deeply committed to supporting the younger generations. In summer 2020, he brought music directly into the lives of French families with his project Un été en France, now in its fifth edition. In January 2022, he launched his 'Fondation Gautier Capuçon'.
He has worked with orchestras and conductors such as Semyon Bychkov, Gustavo Dudamel, Charles Dutoit, Paavo Jarvi, Klaus Mäkelä, Andris Nelsons and Christian Thielemann. Collaborations with contemporary composers include Lera Auerbach, Karol Beffa, Qigang Chen, Guillaume Connesson, Bryce Dessner, Richard Dubugnon, Henry Dutilleux, Bruno Mantovani, Krzysztof Penderecki, Wolfgang Rihm, and Jörg Widmann. For chamber music, he regularly works with artists such as Jérôme Ducros, Nikolai Lugansky, Martha Argerich, Daniel Barenboim, Renaud Capuçon, Leonidas Kavakos, Yuja Wang, the Labèque sisters and the Ébène, Hagen and Modigliani quartets.
The current season sees him performing as a soloist alongside, among others, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and Andris Nelsons, the Wiener Philharmoniker and Christian Thielemann, and for chamber music in collaboration with Evgeny Kissin, Gidon Kremer and Maxim Rysanov, as well as a tour of Asia with Jean-Yves Thibaudet.
Erato's exclusive artist (Warner Classics), he has won numerous awards and has collected an extensive discography. His album Destination Paris, released in November 2023, celebrates French music from the classical repertoire to the soundtracks. The album Emotions In 2020 he won the gold record in France. Its catalog includes the complete Beethoven Sonatas with Frank Braley; an album of Schumann's works recorded live with Martha Argerich, Renaud Capuçon and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe conducted by Bernard Haitink; the sonatas of Chopin and Franck with Yuja Wang, and a solo album with Bach, Dutilleux and Kodaly on the occasion of his 40th birthday.
