Reading the name of Myung-Whun Chung next to those of Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky makes us imagine the intensity of this concert. We can almost hear the mysterious initial crescendo of the piano, which bursts out in a string melody so dense that we can lean on it. It is up to Mao Fujita to interpret Rachmaninov's most romantic Piano Concerto, after having performed the fearsome Third at his debut at Teatro alla Scala in 2022. Myung-Whun Chung will be able to approach the Pathetic with the spontaneity that distinguishes his making music, with his capacity to stay into emotions, and to invite us to follow him.
